One Last Ride On The Road To GTA VI π 93 Days to launch
What We Love Reveals What Matters
Trevor looks around his destroyed caravan and focuses on one thing; “This statue here of impotent rageβ¦ this fucking meant more to me than Johnny K meant to anyone.”
It’s funny, but there’s genuine emotion underneath it. Trevor’s possessions aren’t just possessions. His caravan is his territory. His ridiculous belongings are part of the tiny world he’s built for himself. When the bikers destroy them, they’re not simply damaging property. They’re invading Trevor’s identity.
And then Wayne walks through the door. Trevor asks one question; “Have you found him?” Suddenly the statue doesn’t matter. The bikers don’t matter. Johnny doesn’t matter. Michael matters.
That tells us everything.
“What we value most reveals who we really are.”
There’s an important detail here This scene is almost a mirror image of Michael. Michael has spent years trying to bury Trevor. Trevor has spent years carrying Michael with him. Michael built a new life and tried to convince himself the old one was gone. Trevor built almost nothing, and remained emotionally attached to the past.
Now we see the consequences of those two approaches. Michael hears Trevor’s name and becomes terrified. Trevor hears Michael’s name and becomes obsessed.
Two men.
One past.
Completely different reactions.
There’s another lovely little detail in Trevor’s treatment of Wayne. He threatens to kill him. Then says; “Now smile. That’s better.” That’s Trevor in miniature. He wants control over everything; the situation, the people around him, even their facial expressions. It’s funny because it’s absurd, but psychologically, it’s consistent.
Trevor has just lost control of his home, his possessions and his territory. The moment he regains the upper hand over someone else, he immediately starts exercising it. When everything else is taken away, what we obsess over tells us what we were really holding onto.
Trevor thinks he’s furious because The Lost destroyed his home. He is, but the scene reveals something more important. The moment he hears that Michael might be alive, his priorities change completely. The destroyed caravan was an insult. Finding Michael is the mission.
That is the moment Trevor’s story really starts moving toward its inevitable collision with Michael.
With Grand Theft Auto VI on the horizon, I thought it was the perfect time to revisit one of the greatest games ever made. Over the days leading up to the launch of GTA VI, I’m returning to Los Santos for one last ride through the narrative.
In this new collection I’m analysing the story in the comments to tell you what I think is going on. Disagree with what I say? Get in there! My challenge is to get the whole game covered by GTAVI launch.

If everything you owned was trashed by the Lost MC tomorrow, what one thing would you desperately want back!?
