One Last Ride On The Road To GTA VI π 85 Days to launch
Sometimes You Need to Leave the Past Behind to Face It
Trevor tells Ron; “You’re CEO of Trevor Phillips Enterprises.”
It’s ridiculous… but it’s also significant. Trevor is effectively handing over everything he’s built because finding Michael matters more than his business. That’s how we know this isn’t just curiosity. It’s personal.
“Sometimes you have to go back to where it all began to understand where you’re going.”
There’s a wonderful contrast in the final exchange. Wade asks; “Are we gonna stop for ice cream?”. Trevor is embarking on what may be the most important journey of his life. Wade is thinking about ice cream and that’s actually another reason Wade is the perfect companion for Trevor.
Trevor is increasingly consumed by the past. Wade exists almost entirely in the present. Trevor is thinking about Michael Townley, betrayal and unfinished business. Wade is thinking; “Are we stopping for ice cream?”.
It’s absurd, but it gives the scene a little breathing space before Trevor heads into Los Santos and there’s a bigger story point here; This is the moment when Trevor chooses confrontation over uncertainty.
For years, Michael has been a mystery. Now Trevor has a name, a family and a city. He could sit in Sandy Shores and wonder. He doesn’t. He goes immediately.
That’s a very Trevor response to uncertainty; Don’t think about it. Do something about it. It’s often destructive… but it’s also why Trevor is so relentlessly active.
Sometimes the only way to stop wondering what happened is to go and find out for yourself. Trevor has spent years believing Michael was dead. Now he’s finally going to discover why that wasn’t true and the poor people of Los Santos have absolutely no idea what’s heading their way.

With Grand Theft Auto VI on the horizon, I thought it was the perfect time to revisit one of the greatest games ever made. Over the days leading up to the launch of GTA VI, I’m returning to Los Santos for one last ride through the narrative.
In this new collection I’m analysing the story in the comments to tell you what I think is going on. Disagree with what I say? Get in there! My challenge is to get the whole game covered by GTAVI launch.
