Here’s one I wish someone had told me forty years ago. Whenever I buy a piece of technology I really love, I always wish I’d bought two. One to use. One to put away.
I’ve watched it happen over and over again…
Home computers.
Games consoles.
Handhelds.
Hi-Fi.
CB radios.
Early iPhones.
Even old CRT televisions and calculators.
The people who kept the original box and looked after their kit often ended up with something worth far more than they ever expected.
The same goes for physical video games. Right now they’re everywhere. Cheap. Easy to find. But twenty years from now? Today’s ordinary games could become tomorrow’s collector’s pieces. I’m not saying buy them as an investment. I’m saying buy the things you genuinely love.
And if you can afford it…
Buy two. Use one. Keep one boxed. Your future self might thank you and if the value never goes up…
Well, you’ll still own something you enjoyed enough to keep… and one day your kids or grandkids might discover you’ve quietly left them a few unexpected treasures.
