I BUILT THREE ARCADE GAMES WITH AI. WHAT COULD POSSIBLY GO WRONG?

I’ve been gaming for nearly 50 years, and back in the day I worked as an arcade engineer and manager and taught basic game building, interactive software and digital media creation. But I’m not a professional game developer.
So I decided to experiment.
Three ideas. Three browser-based arcade games. A lot of testing, tweaking, and telling the AI what it had got wrong.
The surprising bit? Getting a playable version running was much quicker than I expected.
But the real lesson wasn’t that AI can write code. It was discovering how quickly an idea can become something you can actually play, test and improve.
And this isn’t just about games. The same approach could help small businesses explore ideas for practical tools and software without committing to a big project before they know whether it will work.
I’ve written up the experiment, what I learned, and why I think it matters beyond gaming.

Turns out, you don’t always need to know how to build the thing. Sometimes you just need to know what you want it to do.
