I know a bit about this… I’m not sure things have changed that much, apart from perhaps cleanliness and pain killers. A buddy of mine came up to me after my leg amputation and said; “Oh! You’ve lost weight”. It was just what I needed to cheer me up a bit, I’m rarely down but looking down and seeing a leg gone was a bit of a toughy but it is just like losing a tooth now! I do like a bit of banter!
